BRINGING THE PYRENEES INTO THE KITCHEN
A young couple. A kitchen. And one very specific wish: to find, every day, the serenity of the view from their window, the soft, soothing Pyrenees mountain range.
No question of picking a photo from a stock image library. What they wanted was their own landscape, reimagined to live in their everyday life.

01 - LE BRIEF
RECAPTURING THE SERENITY OF A FAMILIAR LANDSCAPE
The owners wanted to bring into their kitchen the serenity of the Pyrenees mountain range they gaze at every day from their window.
Our mission: to translate that feeling into a one-of-a-kind piece, designed specifically for their home.
02 - CREATION
Rather than reproducing a photograph, Atelier LouiseM imagined an artistic interpretation of the Pyrenees in soft aqua gradients. A gentle, subtle composition, designed to converse with the kitchen's understated tones and suggest the landscape rather than impose it.
To blend naturally with the kitchen's understated tones, the landscape was crafted in soft aqua gradients, evoking the Pyrenees without aiming for a literal reproduction.
The goal: to bring the landscape into the room with subtlety, as if it had always belonged there.
CO-CREATION PROCESS
Every step of the project was built through ongoing dialogue with the owners. Proposals, trials and adjustments allowed the creation to be refined step by step, taking into account their wishes, the constraints of the space and their budget.

03 - TECHNICAL CHALLENGES
Three wall sections, three different constraints:

Varied dimensions: the area behind the range hood, windows, electrical outlet cutouts, joints between sections

Two materials to adapt to: glass for the gas cooktop area, aluminum composite for the rest
-
Visual continuity to maintain despite these breaks in surface
Each area called for its own approach, balancing both the final look and technical feasibility.
04 - RESULT
RECAPTURING THE SERENITY OF A FAMILIAR LANDSCAPE
The backsplash goes beyond its decorative role to become an extension of a landscape the owners hold dear. A piece created for their home, but above all for those who live in it.
